Who visits Ubatuba can take much more home than
memories of gorgeous beaches and calm coves of the Atlantic
coast. in the "land of the Tupinamba" you can
visit various deserted beaches and isolated villages,
where the local population still has the rhythm of living
day by day, and still go fishing with their traditional
wood-carved boats.the world of the "sertões",
areas of agriculture in the mountain range, offers frequent
surprises: ruins of farms of the past century, traditional
communities, crystal clear rivers and secluded waterfalls.
another privilege of Ubatuba is that about 80% of its
territory is covered with Atlantic rainforest, good for
about 5% of still remaining rainforest the covered our
coast for centuries.

Day (fry) São Paulo - Picinguaba
Assist
and transfer São Paulo to Picinguaba.Free afternoon
to rest and enjoy the small village of Picinguaba, exotic
traditional people village that´s resisiting to
urbanism, keeping the natural charming and primal energy
of the untamed places. It´s very famous due its
inviting spirit.

Day (Sat) - Picinguaba

• 10:00 - Arrival to the park “Serra do Mar
- Nucleo Picinguaba”
• 10:30 – After a short presentation on the
park the group will cover the Jatobá track (primary
forest) and will have the opportunity to visit “Casa
da Farinha” (flour house).

The Jatobá track is located in the “Sertão
da Fazenda”, where “Casa da Farinha”
(flour house) was built with a rustic water-moved mill.
A cultural and historical legacy that has its origins
in the set of ruins of an ancient sugar and alcohol mill
built late on the XIX century by Italian immigrants.
Following the trail into the tropical humid rainforest
the visitor arrives to a refreshing pool in the Fazenda
river. The Jatobá track with its 2.400 meters (1,5
miles) is a part of the old track that connected Picinguaba
to Paraty.
MAIN PURPOSE
Focus on the importance of the vegetation through an oral
and visual explanation. The presentation will be dynamic,
direct, short and informal; with the support of a map
indicating all the relevant points of the track.
• 13:00 – Lunch at Picimbar Restaurant in
the village Picinguaba. Lunch with a marvelous view over
the bay of Picinguaba with its typical wood-carved fishing
boats
• 15:00 – In the Village Camburi we visit
a traditional Quilombo district with various original
pau-à-pique (clay) houses.
CAMBURI:
Tupi
guarani; the changing river
Over 200 years ago Camburi was founded in a beautiful
location between the mountains of Serra do Mar and the
ocean. Camburi, the first or last beach of the northern
coast of São Paulo state, is located at km 1 on
the BR 101 highway (Rio - Santos), at the border of Ubatuba
and Paraty. It is about 3 km from the centre of the village.
This beach belongs to one of Ubatuba´s beauties
because of its magical location and also its historical
legacy. Camburi gave refuge to the first Quilombos (African
slaves) who fled away from the coffee plantations in Paraty.
Until today descendants of Quilombos still living here.
Centuries ago there were two farms near the beach, one
of them belonging to Mr. Maneco Santos. Nowadays the foundation
of the largest house is still visible. There are also
still ruins of an old wood factory built by the English
that cut precious, valuable wood in this region for export
to England. Enabling themselves to embark their ships
they built several piers on the beach, but time and again
they were destroyed by the powerful ocean, which forced
the English to search for other lands.
On the right side of Camburi beach is a small trail (about
10 meters) that leads to a rough coast “Praia do
Grosa” with stones in every dimension, color and
form and offers an incredible view over the ocean.
Camburi has good hopes on progress and electricity. One
day this will arrive and with it the infrastructure to
receive tourists.

The “Parque Estadual da Serra do Mar (PESM)”,
which means “Wide Coastal Mountain” state
park, was founded in 1977 and is with 315,390 hectares
the largest park in São Paulo state. Its main activities
are preservation, environmental education, scientific
research and maintaining local cultural values.
In the Ubatuba county the state park (PESM) covers an
area of 47.500 hectares, administrated from an operation
center located in the district of Picinguaba. In this
region practically all ecosystems of the Atlantic rainforest
can be found, from mangroves, coastal plains with great
biodiversity to mountains with little vegetation such
as “Pedra do Espelho” (Mirror Stone) with
1.670 meters (5.479 feet) and peaks like “Corcovado”
with 1.150 meters (3.772 feet) and “Cuscuzeiro”
with 1.275 meters (4.183 feet).
Ubatuba is the only county where the state park reaches
sea level, protecting coastal ecosystems with five beaches
and three villages where the traditional culture can be
observed and tasted in the food and way of life. It is
one of the last preserved cultures of the “Caiçara´s”
(fishermen) of the northern beaches of São Paulo
state. Moreover this region is an environmental strategic
point because it overlaps two great parks; PESM and the
national park “Serra da Bocaina”.

Day (Sun) - Ubatumirim

In this day, at 10:00 a.m. we´ll take everybody
to a marvelous ride, visiting the main attractives through
the south of Picinguaba and its complementary that show
more than beauties, but show outstanding culture. Waterfalls
are found along the way and fishermen colonies are inbound
area.
The
center Ubatumirim (very little ubás (kind of tree),
in Tupi-Guarani language, shows an outstanding beauty.
Its geography appears like a designed hill where ocean
seems like very far from the inner land and from locals.
You´ll can see giant trees, song birds that follow
the riders in the way and there are moments that the music
of the waters mixes itself in the environment. And the
8 beautiful waterfalls can be watched when you´ll
enter in the heart of the Ubatumirim.
One side shows the delicious alembic of Mr. Lima, producer
of the purest rum (firewater). In the another side is
the road that drives to some waterfalls. One of them is
the Tombador (5 km from the start), that´s one of
the most beautiful of the city. With Jeep is very easy
to arrive.
In
the way, the sigh is nice!!! Rustic houses without electric
light, primal stoves, lakes, manioc (when many locals
produce flour to sell at the fair) and bananas cultures.
When you´re walking, you´ll be, or into the
Atlantic Forest or into the trail, when it´s possibles
to see wild animals like lizards and armadillos. At the
and of trail, you´ll see bromelias with exotic colors
and old trees, and the final is marvelous: one waterfall.
Each waterfall ends in lagoons.

day to the personal activities. We suggest a boat ride
through thePicinguaba bay where there are two beautiful
islands, nice place to scuba diving, Couves Island (with
two beaches) and Comprida Island, by its side.

Day (Tue) Picinguaba - Paraty

noon and at best time, there will be the transportation
to Paraty).
Paraty is a National Historical Patrimony since 1966 and
it´s about to conquers the status of Cultural Patrimony
of the Mankind.

Different of the others colonial cities, the
architecture of Paraty has character, originality and
definition forming a harmonious monument of the XVIII
century. Paraty today is a Historic National Monument
and Historic Patrimony worldwide declared by UNESCO, and
much more, natural patrimony for is 65% of the area of
the town inside of the National Park of Serra da Bocaina.

century, visiting churches, museum, and old houses. The

DESCRIPTION:
Paraty has 65 islands and many beaches of uncommon
beauty. It is surrounded for exuberant vegetation that
makes it a quiet and unbelievable place to stay. The waters
are perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
Traditional tour with different routes for each day of
week, it has four stops with about 40 minutes in each
place, being one of them for lunching (la carte) aboard
(optional). At these stops is possible to dive with mask
and snorkel (when it is not included on the boat is possible
to rent it) for this we can do it in a clear and warm
water. Inside this 4 stops we have one that became essential,
for tourist wishing, the Ilha Comprida which is more known
as natural aquarium of fishes, when the people from the
boat drop of rice beside it they come out, surround the
boat and the people diving, it is perfect to take pictures.
All the boats offer security and comfort; beyond they
have a good restaurant with option of fish or chicken,
for you tour become more enjoyable.

This tour is made in different waterfalls inside of the
Serra da Bocaina with beauties and attractions. The first
stop at exposition of the Gold trail, where you can know
a little about the history of the Gold trail, afterwards
have trekking until Tobogã’s waterfall, it
is famous because it is a place where people slip off
above the stone, a modality with risk and full of adrenaline.
After has a small trekking of 10 minutes until Tarzã’s
waterfall, it is nice for swimming. Afterwards these waterfalls,
the tour visits the distillery of cachaça, Engenho
D’ouro, where we can tasty different kinds of cachaça
and see its artesian process of fabrication.
After this, the tour goes to the restaurant Villa Verde,
where has an optional stop for lunching, specialized in
pastas and broils in a pleasant environment, where you
can relax taking a bath of waterfall.
In this tour we have a directly contact with the nature,
and this way you can know the beauty of the flora of Paraty
including one of the biggest tree of the region named
Jequitibá and you can see plants like bamboo Brasil,
Bromeliads among others.
The next stop at Murycana’s Farm is where it has
one distillery of cachaça and is possible by the
famose cachaça Murycana, and where it has the second
optional stop for lunching, with a menu of typical foods
that can be done before or after trekking to visit Pedra
Branca’s waterfall that is a wonderful waterfall.
The last stop at Exhibition of Bromeliads is where we
have contact with more than 300 species of beautiful plants
(we can take pictures) and leaving from the exhibition
the tour finishes coming back to the town.
The tour includes: ticket to enter in the farm –
mineral water – repellent.

THE
STORYTELLERS GROUP
A incredible chamber theatre with 100 chairs, where there
are folk music and classical, theatre playwrights, dancing
shows and the main plays from STORYTELLERS. Recognized
by the hard work, the famous group present itself frequently
in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and abroad, where
they received many prizes and they are very spoiled by
the fans and by the critics. The puppets show gestures
and emotions create that wonderful kind of illusion that
just the art can explain. And, after all, they are specialy
universal.
